Motivational Poster
I did this piece to have a motivational picture/saying in the high school boys locker room. The materials I used were poster paper, acrylic paint, and a shaper to make the words look sharper. The technique I used was the projector, by doing this I was able to choose the font I wanted and traced it onto the poster. The challenging part was tracing the letters onto the paper and I learned to paint neatly.
Kansas Jayhawk with splatter and gradient
I did this piece because I am a sports fan of the Kansas Jayhawks men basketball team. The materials I used were a poster paper, acrylic paint, paint brushes, masking tape, and a toothbrush. The technique I used was gradient, going from light to dark, and splatter, using a paintbrush to add a "splatter" effect to my piece. The challenging part was getting the right color for the gradient. The easy/fun part was drawing the hawk.

The Unknown Watercolor Series
The decision I made was to create three abstract paintings. I also used several techniques. They were all non-objective paintings. I did not have a plan, I started with one way of painting that led to another. The effect of that made the paintings very abstract and unusual. The feeling I get from the paintings is that my mind and the techniques I used led me to create these. The techniques I used were gradient wash, dry brush, salt, alcohol, crayon resist, lifting, and masking. I used these techniques to give my paintings a unique style and to use as many techniques I could. I layered colors and techniques. The composition that I used were in order of paintings; the Rule of Thirds, radial symmetry, and repetition. I learned all the techniques that you are able to do with watercolors. I feel I was most successful with using most of the techniques given and different compositions. I don't feel like I could improve on anything, my paintings being abstract, I believe that the concept is good.

Stencil Galaxy
The techniques I used for this projects was stencils. The materials I used were spray paint, styrofoam bowls, newspaper, and poster board. The techniques I used were spraying different colors of spray paint at many angles and heights. I did this piece because I was intrigued by the many possibilities that can come with spray painting. I used ROBBO's style of graffiti letters for "K" ,"J" and "H". I then was inspired by space graffiti art and decided to use that as my background. I am happy with my piece and would not change anything about it. The hardest parts about this piece were making the stencils and cutting them and the weather as it was always windy. The easiest part was spray painting all the planets with different colors.
Third Semester ideas and finished products
Finished products
I made the duct tape wallet because it looked fun and I have never done it before. I did the drawing of my hand because I liked the idea of the optical illusion. And I decorated eggs because it reminded me of making cascarones last year in Spanish class. I also made a duct tape bracelet. I made the duct tape wallet but cutting strips of tape and weaving it through one another and taping the tops together. Then I added pockets to form the wallet. I made the drawing by placing my hand on the paper while bringing the marker to my hand and drawing upwards across my hand and back down. I made the eggs by dying eggs, drawing with crayons and sharpies. And I made the duct tape bracelet by cutting strips of tape and weaving them into each other. I learned how to make a duct tape wallet.
Fourth semester independent project
For my final independent project I made a 2 story dollhouse. I made this because I wanted to make one project that would take the entire quarter and I also wanted to build a house. I made it by constructing popsicles sticks and hot glue together as well as painting with acrylic and spray paint. The materials needed were popsicle sticks, hot glue, white acrylic paint, white spray paint, hot glue gun, and cardstock. I learned that constructing walls together was very hard to do. I could improve on the look of the house and how it was put together.
